Jenam 2011The Earth and Space Science Center at Tyler Junior College presents up to six shows a day on Earth and millions of miles inside the Hudnall Planetarium. The lineup includes a show every hour starting at 12 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday through May 28. Excursions and private shows by reservation are available between 9:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. on weekdays.
Various children’s shows with entertainment start at 12 p.m. on weekdays and 11 a.m. on Saturdays. “Laser Story Time: Perseus and Andromeda” at noon on Saturday tells the story of Greek mythology and is entertaining for children and adults.
“Sea Lions: Life By a Whisker” tells the story of a colony of Australian sea lions and airs at 1:00 p.m. daily. “Journey Through Space Live” at 2 p.m. is a live interactive tour of the solar system narrated by a planetarium educator.
“To Space and Back” airs daily at 3 p.m. and depicts the impact space exploration has had on our lives. This state-of-the-art show takes audiences on a journey from the far reaches of our universe to our own planet. It describes how the technology that transports us into space paves the way for the devices and apps we use every day.
“East Texas Sky Live” at 4:00 p.m. daily is an interactive planetarium sky show featuring many of the most popular and interesting objects seen in the night sky.
“Rock and Roll at the Dome” offers a unique viewing experience in the 40-foot dome theater. Watch popular rock songs come to life in this psychedelic musical experience. This special event takes place at 7 p.m. and 8 p.m., Saturday, May 21 and Saturday, July 16.
